McALEER CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE JUNE 2ND, 2010
I would like to take this opportunity to update you on the upcoming McAleer Championship.
In 2010, the canteen will be run by the Parents and Students of the Elisabeth Murdoch College Horticultural Program.
The canteen will be open from 8am Saturday and 9.30am on Sunday, supplying egg & bacon rolls and muffins for breakfast, a sausage sizzle, rissoles, soup and assorted sandwiches for lunch and dinner and a variety of snacks and drinks throughout the day.
A coffee van has also been organised and will be set-up outside the venue selling hot drinks all weekend.
The foyer area between the theatre and basketball stadium, will not be available for dancers to warm-up and store their belongings, as tables and chairs will be set up for patrons to sit and enjoy their lunch/dinner.
The area adjacent to the marshalling area (where the canteen is usually placed) will be available for dancers to warm up, and the change room adjacent to the lockers need to be used for changing.
All dancers will need to register no later than 30 minutes prior to their section commencing,
collect their number and confirm their setdance at this time.
As listed on the Syllabus, we will have recalls for all sections with more than 12 competitors. 65% of dancers, that danced on the day, will be recalled for their final round. Dancers that do not appear in the recall are welcome to compete in a Traditional Set dance Section. There will be trophies and encouragement awards for this section. The official numbers in each section are as follows:

6 & UNDER BOYS: 1
7 YEARS GIRLS: 10
8 YEARS GIRLS: 15
8 & UNDER BOYS: 3
9 YEARS GIRLS: 19
10 YEARS GIRLS: 17

All perpetual trophies won in 2009, need to be returned on the Saturday of the competition.
The venue will be opened on the Friday evening between 4:00 and 6:00pm for set-up
and any trophies can be returned at this time.
The venue will be opened at 7:30am on the Saturday and 9:00am on the Sunday mornings.
Stephen Watts will be the official photographer for the event, taking studio portrait shots.
Milton Barr, will also be in attendance and Live Commentary will be available.
Milton will also take photos at the time of presentations.
